Choosing a small rig

Under 5 inches — the 4" micro rigs and the 3" egg — hold the smallest chambers and the least water. Both 4" micro rigs run a 10mm joint, the narrowest standard size, which takes a 10mm banger. Five to seven inches is the practical daily-driver range: a larger chamber, still small enough to clean in a sink, and usually a 14mm joint. Then choose the water pathway: a banger hanger is a single straight chamber with the fewest internal passages to clean, a holey or showerhead perc splits the airflow through multiple openings, and a recycler or incycler routes water back to the main chamber so it keeps circulating during the draw.

Which one should you buy?

Smallest and lowest-priced: the 4" 10mm Micro Holey Perc at $24.95. Simplest to clean: the 6" Thick Boy Banger Hanger or the 6" Peanut at $34.95. Most internal pathway in a small piece: the 6.5" Incycler with Showerhead Perc at $49.95. Recycler in miniature: the 4" 10mm Micro Klein at $32.95. A note on water

Small rigs hold very little water. Covering the perc slits by about half an inch is the usual starting point. Small chambers fill quickly. If water reaches the mouthpiece during a draw, remove a small amount.
