A clean glass top is the difference between smooth, tasty draws and harsh, muted ones on your Puffco® Peak®. The good news: cleaning the glass is quick and easy with a simple isopropyl soak. The key thing to know is which part you can soak and which part you must keep dry. Here's exactly how to clean your Puffco Peak glass, step by step.

What you'll need
- Isopropyl alcohol, 90% or higher (99% is ideal for dissolving resin)
- A container to soak the glass in
- Warm water for rinsing
- A well-ventilated spot to dry
The one rule: keep the atomizer dry
Only the glass attachment goes in for a soak, never the atomizer. The atomizer contains a ceramic heating element, and water or a long alcohol soak can damage it. So the first step is always to separate the glass from the device and clean only the glass. Keep the electronic base and atomizer well away from your cleaning container.
Step 1: Remove the glass and rinse
Power off and cool the device, then lift the glass top off the base (it twists or pops off, no tools, see how to replace your Puffco Peak glass if you need a refresher). Pour out any water and give the glass a quick rinse under warm water to clear loose residue.
Step 2: Soak the glass in isopropyl
Submerge the glass attachment in 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and let it soak for 20–30 minutes. The alcohol dissolves the resin on its own, no scrubbing needed for most buildup. For heavier residue in a perc or recycler top, a gentle swirl and a little longer soak does the trick.
Step 3: Rinse thoroughly
Rinse the glass really well with warm water until there's no alcohol smell or residue left. This step matters, any leftover alcohol will taste bad on your next draw, so rinse more than you think you need to.
Step 4: Dry completely before reattaching
Let the glass air-dry fully, ideally overnight in a well-ventilated room, before putting it back on the device. Reattaching damp glass can trap moisture and affect the seal. Once it's bone dry, seat it back on the base and you're good to go.
How often to clean it
For the best flavor, clean the glass about once a week with regular use, and change the water more often than that. A quick rinse between sessions keeps resin from hardening, exactly like maintaining a dab rig. Low-temp dabbing also produces less residue; see low-temp vs high-temp dabs.
Cleaning tips
- Never soak the atomizer or rinse it with water, keep cleaning to the glass only.
- Rinse until there's zero alcohol smell for the cleanest-tasting draws.
- Dry fully before reassembly, patience here protects the seal and the flavor.
- Upgrade while you clean. If your glass is worn or you want a smoother perc style, see Puffco Peak glass styles explained.
Frequently asked questions
How do you clean Puffco Peak glass?
Remove the glass from the device, rinse it under warm water, then soak it in 90%+ isopropyl alcohol for 20–30 minutes to dissolve the resin. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and let it air-dry completely before reattaching. Never soak or wet the atomizer.
Can you use water to clean a Puffco Peak?
You can rinse the glass attachment with water, but you should never rinse or soak the atomizer, its ceramic heating element can be damaged by water. Clean only the glass; keep the electronic base and atomizer dry.
What alcohol should I use to clean Puffco glass?
Isopropyl alcohol at 90% or higher, 99% is ideal. Higher concentrations dissolve resin faster and evaporate cleaner, so your glass rinses residue-free and dries quickly.
How often should I clean my Puffco Peak glass?
About once a week with regular use, and change the water more frequently. A quick rinse between sessions stops resin from hardening and keeps your draws tasting fresh, making the weekly deep clean much easier.
Why does my Puffco taste bad after cleaning?
Almost always leftover alcohol. Rinse the glass with warm water until there's no alcohol smell at all, and let it dry completely before reattaching. Residual isopropyl or moisture is the usual cause of an off taste.
Keep every draw clean
A weekly isopropyl soak keeps your Peak glass clear and your flavor pure, just remember to keep the atomizer dry. Need a fresh or upgraded top? Browse our Puffco-compatible glass.
