What height changes

A taller tube holds a longer column of air between the water and the mouthpiece, and a larger volume of smoke before you clear it. Height also changes handling: an 18" beaker has a wider base and is built to stand on a table, while a 14" piece is easier to store and to pass. Taller is not automatically better — it is a different draw and a larger object to clean.

Beaker or straight tube?
